ASM Vehicle and Traffic

ASM is a tool suite for simulating combustion engines, vehicle dynamics, electric components, and the traffic environment. The open Simulink® models are typically used on the dSPACE Simulator for hardware-in-the-loop testing of electronic control units (ECUs) or during the design phase of controller algorithms for early validation by offline simulation. They are complete and independent models that support all the relevant phases of the model-based development process.

The Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Package is an excellent basis for developing and testing vehicle dynamics ECUs, such as ESP, steering, and active damping ECUs. For realistic vehicle simulation, the vehicle model is designed as a multibody system. The model consists of elements such as a drivetrain with elastic shafts, a table-based engine, two semi-empirical tire models, a nonlinear table-based vehicle suspension model with kinematics and compliance, a steering model, and aerodynamics. An environment with a road, maneuvers, and an open- and closed-loop driver is included as well. All parameters can be altered during run time.

The ASM Traffic Simulation Package is an add-on for the ASM Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Package. A virtual environment that consists of road networks, traffic maneuvers, traffic signs, buildings, pedestrians, and various objects is used to efficiently develop and validate driver assistance systems. In addition, the test vehicle can be equipped with multiple sensors for object detection and recognition.

The main focus of this training course is to cover the complete ASM tool chain, including the ASM Simulink® model, ModelDesk for parameterization, AURELION for animation, and ControlDesk (optional). You will learn how to parameterize the vehicle, define road networks, and create traffic scenarios with various fellow vehicles.
