The partnership with the Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC) has been expanded: dSPACE supports each racing team with a software simulation package.
This enables the teams to test the algorithms developed for their autonomous race cars in a realistic software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation and compete in virtual races.
The benefit: mature and proven control software — the AI Driver — is implemented in the race car and executed on the AUTERA on-board computer from dSPACE.
"In the first year of our partnership with the IAC, we were able to experience the competence and enthusiasm with which the teams use the pioneering technologies to further develop the cars. Now that the AUTERA AutoBox has established itself as the brain of the IAC race car, we are now taking the next step and providing the up-and-coming engineers with a virtual racetrack. With the software-in-the-loop solutions, we equip them with powerful tools that enable them to gain insights early on and that make the difference in the end to win the IAC race series."

"dSPACE has been a cornerstone partner for the IAC, playing a pivotal role in our world’s fastest autonomous racecars. Elevating our collaboration, dSPACE will provide a customized version of their SIMPHERA SIL product, a best-of-class high fidelity simulation tool that will offer our university teams a true digital twin of the IAC AV-24 racecars and track environments. This partnership will enable true SIM to REAL transfer learning that will unlock the full potential of our AI drivers to reach the pinnacle of safe high-speed automation."
