Paderborn, February 19, 2019: dSPACE's booth at embedded world 2019 focuses entirely on electric mobility and autonomous driving. The world's leading supplier of tools for developing and testing mechatronic control systems will demonstrate how to efficiently and reliably master new challenges in these areas at the leading trade fair for the embedded industry, which takes place in Nuremberg, starting February 26.
Radar sensors are a key technology that enables the development of increasingly comprehensive driver assistance functions and autonomous driving. For this reason, dSPACE has expanded its portfolio with a new product family called dSPACE Automotive Radar Test Systems (DARTS). The new product family includes products tailored to the entire value chain, from sensor testing by chip manufacturers to hardware-in-the-loop validation to end-of-line testing of vehicles by automobile manufacturers. At embedded world, dSPACE will use a demo setup to demonstrate how easily radar sensors can be tested by means of over-the-air technology.
For developing and testing functions for autonomous driving, large volumes of sensor and vehicle data must be merged and processed. dSPACE presents MicroAutoBox Embedded SPU and DSU, compact and robust in-vehicle development systems that can be used to quickly and efficiently develop as well as record perception and sensor fusion algorithms.
To demonstrate how to validate functions for autonomous driving by means of sensor-realistic simulations, dSPACE uses its highly scalable SCALEXIO real-time system and the Environment Sensor Interface Unit, which enables the time-correlated feed-in of raw sensor data.
Running several million test kilometers for alternative drive systems or functions for autonomous driving faster than in real time drastically shortens development cycles. dSPACE shows how to do this with a software-in-the-loop simulation on a PC cluster even before HIL tests or real test drives. The automated use of multiple instances of the PC-based simulation platform dSPACE VEOS in a PC cluster makes it possible to run a high number of simulations simultaneously.
Driving forward innovations in the field of e-mobility involves far more than the continuing development of electric motors and batteries. At embedded world, dSPACE presents itself as a one-stop shop for the development, testing, and simulation of all key electric mobility components – from electric drives and battery and energy management systems to the complete vehicle and charging communication. For example, in addition to the established HIL and RCP systems, dSPACE exhibits innovative electronic loads that can be used to test drive control units at full power and at its extremes. Another showcase demonstrates how to develop and test battery management systems (BMS).
